Former One Direction singer Zayn Malik has a massive and a loyal following on social media, who are always ready to support the singer. It was over the weekend that Zayn’s fans started a campaign on social media using the hashtag #RemoveItForZayn after fans realized that the offensive song Zayn Did 9/11, by parody artist Uma Kompton was available to stream on Spotify. The song, targeted at Zayn Malik was released back in 2017 by Uma Kompton, and fans were enraged as the ‘Islamophobic’ song was made available on streaming platforms.

Soon, Zayn Malik’s fans started trending #RemoveItForZayn demanding the removal of the offensive song from all platforms. The song is about the terror attacks on September 11, 2001, which saw almost 3,000 people die in New York City and at the Pentagon. While one tweet asking for the removal of the song read, “His faith affiliation, skin color, or race does not equal terrorism. If you let a minority of any racial/religious group dictate your view of the majority of said group, then you need to re-evaluate your worldview. #removeitforzayn,” another tweet read, “This is disgusting. Zayn is the most kindest and respectful man out there @Spotify #zaynmalik #removeitforzayn #removeit #WeloveZayn.”

Spotify took note and pulled down the offensive song from their platform, however, it is still available on YouTube and Apple Music. Meanwhile, the campaign continues for the song to be removed from all the platforms.
